Lindsey Stephenson, LSCSW
Lindsey Stephenson, LSCSW
Since becoming President of KVC Missouri in 2021, Lindsey Stephenson has significantly expanded the organization’s reach and impact. Under her leadership, KVC Missouri has experienced substantial revenue growth and expanded its reach to 25 locations across the state. Lindsey’s focus on building strong community partnerships has enhanced collaboration with local schools, healthcare providers and child welfare organizations, creating a more integrated support system for at-risk youth and families. Her ability to engage with elected officials, healthcare executive and business leaders has made her a trusted voice in child welfare and children’s mental health treatment, effectively solving complex challenges and driving meaningful change.
Stephenson has been a driving force behind KVC Missouri’s expansion and elevated impact, leading the organization to a strategic partnership with St. Louis Children’s Hospital to develop a state-of-the-art youth mental wellness facility in St. Louis on the Webster Groves campus. This groundbreaking project addresses a critical gap in mental health services for teens and youth in the region through the highest-quality, accessible care. By championing this initiative, Stephenson is reshaping the landscape of youth mental health in Missouri and setting a new standard for excellence in care.
Lindsey has been actively involved in child welfare for over 20 years. Prior to her role in Missouri, she served as Vice President of Operations for KVC Kansas, where she led a team that grew community support for children in foster care by dramatically increasing the number of foster and adoptive families. She also transformed residential services and launched innovative initiatives such as the Protective Homes project.
Lindsey was honored as one of 25 Rising Stars in the Kansas City Business Community through the 2022 NextGen Leaders Awards by the Kansas City Business Journal. In 2024, the Kansas City Business Journal again honored Stephenson as one of the Twenty to Know in Health Care. These recognitions highlight her leadership in the community and her commitment to transforming child welfare and mental health services across the region.
She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in social work from the University of Kansas and is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW).
James M. Roberson, LMSW
James M. Roberson, LMSW
James Roberson has worked for KVC since 2004 and currently serves as Senior Vice President at KVC Missouri where he oversees residential treatment, admissions, and trauma-informed services. He is passionate about improving health outcomes for children and families through innovative, science-based treatments. James uses his expertise in childhood trauma and positive behavior supports to strengthen KVC Missouri’s inclusive, trauma-informed treatment experience.
Throughout his career, James has gained extensive expertise in organizational development of inpatient children’s mental health hospitals, residential treatment centers, education centers and community-based services. He specializes in oversight of inpatient and residential programming, performance improvement, treatment innovation, special initiatives, and the implementation of evidence-based practices. Prior to working with KVC Missouri, James was a part of the Camber Children’s Mental Health leadership team.
James is a tier-three national certified trainer for Trauma Systems Therapy and has completed the Kansas Institute for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports facilitator course. His innovative approach to developing best practices and programs focused on efficacy has enhanced KVC’s treatment programs over the years and has led to engagement in projects with various communities, health systems, residential centers, school districts, and detention centers throughout the U.S. and internationally.
James earned a master’s degree in social work from the University of Kansas.

Dr. Pamela Dawson
Dr. Pamela Dawson
Dr. Pamela Dawson, Vice President of Education acts as a community and statewide liaison for our education department. She oversees the curriculum and her team of educators. In her role, she also supports the emotional and academic growth of students and helps graduating seniors transition out of KVC Academy.
Pamela has 20 years of combined experience in the social service and education fields. She was a professor of psychology and education at William Woods University and continues to teach as an adjunct professor.
Pamela received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and psychology and her master’s in education (special education) from Drury University. She attended Mizzou and received a specialist in educational counseling and psychology degree. Pamela earned her master’s in administration with a concentration in special education & secondary principal administration and her doctorate in educational leadership, both from William Woods University.

Kelly English
Kelly English
Kelly English is the Vice President of Clinical Services at KVC Missouri. In this role, she oversees the clinical programming and implementation across all KVC Missouri programs. Kelly also works closely with the admission and utilization teams of Missouri. Kelly is a licensed professional counselor, with nearly 20 years of successful experience in both residential and outpatient clinical therapy settings.
Kelly received her undergraduate degree from St. Louis University in Psychology with a minor in Education and her master’s degree from the University of Kansas in Counseling Psychology.
Kelly began her professional career in child welfare at KVC working as a case manager and therapist. From there she moved into residential and outpatient therapy and then onto administrative work. She has extensive expertise in clinical operations and program development. Kelly has spent a large part of her career successfully building, growing, and operating Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities (PRTF), Therapeutic Group Homes, Youth Residential Services (YRC), Qualified Residential Treatment Programs (QRTP), and Community-Based Services such as Street Outreach Programs and Intensive Outpatient Programs for children. Throughout her career, she has gained experience in census management, contract negotiation and management, strategic human resources procedures including compliance, leadership development, talent management and retention. She has held positions in a range of disciplines within the mental health umbrella giving her a versatile understanding of the mental health treatment environment for children and families.
Kelly has actively engaged as a community liaison at state and local levels in the crucial conversations to shape better access to and delivery of mental health services. She has participated in local committees to advocate for mental health and enjoys collaborating with others to create beneficial outcomes for children and families.
Elke Hansen
Elke Hansen
Elke Hansen brings with her a variety of work and life experiences that have formed her passion for working with children, youth, families, and communities. Her work is driven by a desire to improve the systems she is a part of, so those systems can become more equitable and helpful for those they are supposed to serve. The focus of such systems work has been within child welfare and residential treatment settings.
Elke’s last employment was with Caritas Family Solutions, in Southern Illinois, as a regional director. In this role she oversaw intact and foster care services, a therapeutic residential treatment program, counseling services, and a senior employment program. Elke was the co-chair of the statewide Child Welfare Advisory Committee on racial equity practice in child welfare. Elke was actively involved with other residential treatment providers and DCFS in Illinois, working on Family First Prevention Services Act, with focus on residential treatment.
“We have a responsibility to change the current child welfare system and to open access to behavioral health and other services when needed. We must address root causes such as poverty and systemic racism and eliminate existing inequities. If I/we can contribute to that, it is my/our responsibility to do so, especially as a white person in a leadership role!”
Previous experiences include:
- In Switzerland: residential setting for young adults with severe physical and mental challenges, rural drug and alcohol counseling agency, teens in independent living setting, survival assistance for drug addicted women working on the streets.
- In the US: battered women shelter, living and working in shelter for undocumented immigrants in East Los Angeles, inner-city residential setting for abused and neglected children, young adults and pregnant/parenting teen girls, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, residential setting for traumatized children and self-harm program.
- Other: support position for biotechnology, biodiversity and technology workshops held in Africa, cruise ship work across the globe, volunteering as counselor with Spanish speaking clients at local health clinic, living abroad in Chile.
Elke Hansen, is the daughter of German parents, born and raised in Switzerland, and a US citizen. She received a National Degree in Social Work and Pedagogy from the School of Social Services in Solothurn, Switzerland, and her master’s degree in social work (MSW) from Saint Louis University. She holds a Licensed Clinical Social Work license in Missouri and speaks six languages, Swiss German, German, French, Italian, Spanish and English.

Christy Howard is KVC Missouri’s Vice President of Community-Based Services. In her role, she oversees the implementation of all community-based programs and provides oversight to program directors. Christy is responsible for strategic planning as it relates to community based services to ensure effective service delivery and staff satisfaction and performance.
Christy earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri and her master’s degree from Walden University.
She had 20 years of experience in the child welfare field and has worked in every program line from the child abuse and neglect hotline through residential treatment. Christy previously worked at Missouri Children’s Division, in a variety of roles including children’s service worker, supervisor on the front line, and Deputy Director of Policy and Practice. She also has experience in the private sector, she worked as the director of the central region for Cornerstones of Care and held the title of Family Preservation Director for the DCCCA in the state of Kansas.
Christy has experience managing and writing multiple contracts and grants and maintaining a budget. She has led numerous workgroups and strategic teams aimed at improving practice for the families and is proficient in data analysis and program implementation.

Cheryl Costabile, MA, LCPC, LPC
Cheryl Costabile, MA, LCPC, LPC
As the Senior Director of Clinical Services at Niles Residential Treatment, Cheryl oversees business operations, strategic planning and interdepartmental projects and provides direct oversight of the leadership team. She focuses on ensuring Niles’ residential treatment program is a safe and healing space for children and teens who are receiving intensive clinical services for behavioral and mental health challenges.
Cheryl brings more than 20 years of expertise in management and program service delivery and more than 12 years of experience working in the mental health field. She has extensive experience working in children’s psychiatric treatment centers and school settings and most recently served as the Director of Residential Programs at a treatment program in Kansas City, Missouri. In this role, Cheryl directed the planning, development and administration of residential programs. Her knowledge and expertise extend to operational oversight, employee management, developing curriculum, clinical treatment, budgeting, compliance with state and federal standards, crisis intervention, Council on Accreditation (COA) standards, and many other aspects of leading a treatment center.
Cheryl is a licensed professional counselor in the State of Missouri and a licensed clinical professional counselor in the State of Kansas. She received a master’s degree in counseling and certifications in Sexual Addiction and Play Therapy from MidAmerica Nazarene University. Additionally, she has completed Part 1 of both Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.

Leslie Wiss, LPC, leads the trauma informed care initiative and acts as the liaison with national partners. In her role, Senior Director of Trauma-Informed Services, she implements and maintains the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics™ Site Certification Program, oversees external training initiatives and internal training development, and coordinates clinical practice and “care” strategy to advance quality of care.
Leslie has 14 years of experience in her field. Before joining KVC Missouri, she worked as a therapist, in school, residential and in-home family settings. She is Phase 2 trained in The Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics™, nationally certified in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and a Robust Process Improvement Change Leader.
Leslie received a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and the Faculty Award for Student Excellence from Maryville University.

Travis Cox serves as the Director of Marketing and Communications for KVC Missouri. He has been a leader in the digital marketing space for over 15 years, beginning as a freelance photographer and video producer before eventually establishing his own digital ad agency, Social Shot Marketing. With extensive experience in digital marketing, video production, creative direction, social media, strategy, and more, Travis places a heavy emphasis on outside-the-box thinking and approaches every project with empathy.
Travis earned his first bachelor’s degree in marketing and his second bachelor’s in psychology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Dr. Michelle DeNault
Dr. Michelle DeNault
Dr. Michelle DeNault is a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist with knowledge and experience working in various health systems. She is passionate about improving clinical outcomes in various health systems. She values working in teams. Dr. DeNault attended Wayne State University for Medical School, finished her psychiatry residency at the University of Colorado, and her fellowship training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the Children’s Hospital, Colorado in 2018. Her personal time is filled with songs, whether she’s participating in local choral and amateur vocal groups, or listening to songbirds in her outdoor flower garden during the summertime. Dr. DeNault loves hosting parties and events, both personally and professionally, and spending time in wonderful Colorado outdoors.

Jessica Elliott, LMSW, serves as the Senior Director of Child Placing – Statewide. She has been serving families with KVC Missouri for 14 years.
Jessica earned her bachelor’s of social work Kansas State University and her master’s of social work from the University of Kansas.
Gabriella Harms
Gabriella Harms
Gabriella Harms is the Director of Training and Compliance for KVC Missouri. Her 13 years of experience overseeing multiple positions and programs provided her the ability to understand how performance and quality improvement can be used effectively and efficiently to improve outcomes for the clients we serve. Since beginning her career with our organization Gabriella served in several different positions and gained valuable experience building relationships with community stakeholders, empowering case managers and supervisors to become better leaders and problem-solvers. During her tenure as a Home and Community Bases Services Director, she enhanced existing programs by developing program plans, goals, and objectives for the programs offered by our South Central team.
Gabriella’s commitment to excellent program service delivery and continual operational improvement has led her to the position of Training and Compliance Director. Gabriella’s professional goal is to ensure that all KVC programs are effective, successful and provide consistent and exceptional customer service throughout all regions.
When she is not at work, Gabriella loves spending time with her family and enjoys remodeling old buildings.
James Kohler

James Kohler is the Director of Performance Improvement for KVC Missouri. In his role, he oversees process refinement and ensures organizational efficacy. James deploys data-driven methodologies to pinpoint inefficiencies, optimizes processes, empowers teams to excel and elevates organizational performance. His collaborative approach fosters a culture of excellence and innovation, encouraging cross-functional teams to work cohesively towards common goals. James is a trainer for Credible advanced searches and a Six Sigma Black Belt. James has been with KVC Missouri for more than seven years.
Prior to joining KVC Missouri, James worked in Operations, Finance, and IT in the for-profit sector. He decided to join the non-profit sector to provide support services for children and families.
James is also our resident Santa Claus. He makes trips to a handful of our campuses on Christmas morning to pass out candy and bring some joy to the kids we serve.

Chris Noll, LWSW, serves as the Director of Admissions and Contact Center, where he ensures the Admissions and Contact Center provides quality customer service, timely and thoughtful responses, and leads with empathy and kindness.
Chris has 15 years of experience in the social services sector. Prior to his current position, Chris worked as a Teacher Assistant, an Admission Coordinator, a Therapist and the Associate Director of School. He bachelor’s of social work from the University of Missouri, Columbia and his master’s of social work from the University of Missouri- St. Louis.

Christina Todd is the Director of Nursing for KVC Missouri. Christina oversees nursing in both QRTP and PRTF residential facilities across the state of Missouri. This includes directing all aspects of nursing and the care of the clients we serve and coordinating with all the other disciplines to provide the highest possible quality of care.
She organizes and directs the work of Nursing Departments to assure that effective nursing services are provided, and quality standards are met. The function of her role is to develop and maintain an environment that supports the nursing staff, meets required standards, and delivers safe health care to those we serve. Christina has been with KVC for Missouri for five years.
Christina earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science in Nursing from McKendree University. Christina has over 20 years of experience in pediatric nursing and 16 years of experience at Children’s Hospital in the St. Louis region in both management and as a behavioral health education specialist. She also worked for five years in nurse consulting in residential facilities. Prior to nursing, she worked in Special Education for 10 years. Christina is a Certified Pediatric Nurse through Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.

La Dena Nsabimana
La Dena Nsabimana serves as the Associate Director of Special Education at KVC Missouri, where she assists the Director in daily operations within the scope of education. She is responsible for ensuring up-to-date documentation and information regarding students and aiding teachers in creating and implementing fun and engaging lessons.
La Dena began her career as a paraprofessional, teaching preschoolers aged 3-5 for ten years. She then transitioned to working with kindergarten to 2nd-grade special education classrooms as a Teacher Technician (paraprofessional) for five years. After receiving her teaching license, La Dena spent the last two years teaching Special Education in 2nd to 5th grade classrooms.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Arts in Teaching – Special Education K-12.

JT Hartley is the Director of Special Education/KVC Academy Principal at Kansas City for KVC Missouri. JT oversees the educational program provided at KVC Academy – Niles and KVC Academy – Kansas City. He has been with KVC for 8+ years.
JT earned his Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education/Special Education Cross Categorical K-12 from Missouri Valley College, a Master’s in Administration from UMKC and his BCBA certification from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
JT started his career as a Youth Care Specialist in a Residential Treatment Facility. After he completed his undergrad degree he began teaching in a day treatment facility. JT has experience in behavior consultation, working with private, public and state-level entities.

Tamara Moore is the Regional Director of Child Placing for KVC Missouri. In her role, she oversees Child Placing for Treatment Foster Care and Licensing programs in Central, South Central, East and Southeast Missouri. She ensures that all program needs and responsibilities are met and helps with outreach to ensure program growth. Tamara has been with KVC Missouri for seven years.
Tamara earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Child and Family Studies from Northwest Missouri State University and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Missouri Baptist University.
Tamara has experience as an Associate Director of Child Placing, Treatment Foster Care caseworker, Foster Care Case Management Supervisor, and a Behavior Assistant working with high-needs youth on the Autism Spectrum.

Erika Rackers serves as the Director of Education at KVC Missouri, providing oversight and development for KVC Academy – Boonville and KVC Academy – Columbia. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Lincoln University and a Master of Science in Education (MS Ed.) in Leadership in Educational Administration from Capella University.
With 22 years of experience in the field of education, Erika has dedicated herself to fostering educational excellence. She spent 12 years in a public setting before joining KVC as a residential teacher. She then progressed to an Instructional Coach role and became Director of Education in 2019. Her expertise includes being a Neurosequential Model in Education Trainer and a Gallup Engagement Champion.

Cammie Ruble is the Director of Community-Based Services for KVC Missouri’s Southeast region.
Cammie holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Missouri. Her focus during her studies was clinical social work. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology, Psychology, and Criminology from Drury University.
Prior to her current role, Cammie was an Associate Director of Community Based Services and Supervisor of Foster Care Case Management for KVC Missouri. Cammie has 16 years of experience in the social service field, including 10 years with Children’s Division.
Throughout her career, she initiated and oversaw the establishment of key programs such as the Laclede Emergency and Enrichment Fund and the Laclede County Foster Care Program. These programs were designed to enhance the well-being of families within the local community.

Kaitlin Caldwell is the Associate Director of Community Based Services in Columbia for KVC Missouri. In her role, she oversees the daily operations for community-based services in the Central region and collaborates with stakeholders to improve the functions and qualities for kids and families in foster care. Kaitlin has been with KVC for six years.
Kaitlin earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Missouri Valley College and earned her Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Missouri.
Kaitlin began her career at KVC’s Columbia campus as a Youth Care Specialist while working to obtain her degrees. Upon her graduation, she started working at Children’s Division in Cole County in Family Centered Services. She then returned to KVC and served as a Foster Care Case Manager before being promoted to FCCM/TFC Supervisor.

As the Director of Residential Treatment Services, Roy oversees the residential programs, ensuring effective implementation and management. His role focuses on enhancing the quality of care and providing support to both staff and residents.
Roy has 22 years of experience in the mental health field. He began his career as a mental health case manager for both children and adults, helping them access various services. He has worked as floor staff in residential settings for children and served as a residential therapist for several years before moving into director roles. Prior to joining KVC, Roy was the Director of Clinical Development for Kids TLC in Olathe.
Roy holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Lincoln University, MO, where he gained a strong foundation in understanding social behavior and institutions. He also earned a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from a university in Kansas, equipping him with advanced skills in therapeutic techniques and family dynamics.
“Over the course of my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with several different agencies in many capacities. There has not been a day throughout my career that I felt like showing up didn’t matter. I do this work because it fills me up. It is fun, fulfilling, hard, sad, and challenging, and I love it. It is especially fulfilling to be able to serve at Niles, which sits in the heart of the community that I grew up in. David Menning serves as the Associate Director of Special Education at KVC Missouri, where he assists teachers, communicates with school districts, schedules and completes IEPs and manages student discipline. He is committed to ensuring that every child receives the support and opportunities they need to succeed.
David holds a Bachelor’s Degree in K-12 Physical Education and a Special Education Certificate from Northwest Missouri State University. He brings 18 years of experience to his role, having taught in a public school as a K-12 Physical Education Instructor for 13 years, during which he also served as head coach of various sports.
Throughout his career, David has gained extensive expertise in special education and physical education, leveraging his background to support and guide educators and students alike. He is certified in Positive Coaching and holds a Special Education Certificate, highlighting his dedication to professional development and excellence in education.

Yahna Gibson serves as the Associate Director of Education at KVC Missouri, where she leads the education department, focusing on providing quality education to students while minimizing the impact of their negative behaviors. She is committed to creating a team that understands the mission and vision of the department and the importance of their roles in serving children and families.
Yahna holds a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction and a Master’s in Counseling, both from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. With 40 years of workforce experience, she has held various roles, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise through a servant leadership lens. Yahna has spent the past 30 years in the nonprofit sector, starting as an administrative assistant, leading an international nonprofit, and helping to create a workforce development program. Her career has been driven by a passion for serving people and leading with dedication.
Yahna has worked in the mental health field all her life, recognizing that serving people inherently involves mental health. Professionally, she has focused on the mental health field for the last five years.

JT Hartley is the Director of Special Education/KVC Academy Principal at Kansas City for KVC Missouri. JT oversees the educational program provided at KVC Academy – Niles and KVC Academy – Kansas City. He has been with KVC for 8+ years.
JT earned his Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education/Special Education Cross Categorical K-12 from Missouri Valley College, a Master’s in Administration from UMKC and his BCBA certification from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
JT started his career as a Youth Care Specialist in a Residential Treatment Facility. After he completed his undergrad degree he began teaching in a day treatment facility. JT has experience in behavior consultation, working with private, public and state-level entities.

As Regional Director of Child Placing in the Northwest and Southwest regions of the Missouri, Amanda oversees a wide variety of community-based services for youth and families in need of mental health resources— recruiting, training, and licensing new foster family homes, treatment foster care services for youth with elevated needs, prevention services for families at risk of out of home placement, and aftercare services for youth discharged from residential treatment back to the community.
Amanda is a licensed master-level social worker and has been with KVC for eight years. She started her career as a foster family support worker for KVC Kansas, later became a supervisor, and has been in her current role for almost two years. Amanda is passionate about keeping families together, ensuring children are in the least restrictive placement possible, and advocating for youth that is the most difficult to place in the foster care system.

She started her career as a case manager for KVC Kansas, later became a supervisor, and has been in her current role since January 2023.

Alejandro (Alex) Mendez is Associate Director of Operations for KVC Niles and has been with the organization for 20 years. Throughout his career at KVC, Alex has held many roles providing direct care to clients and leading direct care teams including Behavioral Health Technician, Hospital Supervisor, Campus Supervisor and Milieu Manager.
After his first seven years at KVC, Alex transitioned to a career in business working at Lockton Companies as a financial analyst. After serving in that role for 10 years he decided to re-join the KVC family because of his passion for KVC’s mission and service to children and families. In addition to the experience he has gained in working with youth at KVC, he has also been a club soccer coach with KC Fusion for 14 years. His time with KC Fusion is another important way he gives back to the community and works to support and encourage kids of all ages and backgrounds.

Throughout his career at KVC, Ed has held many roles providing direct care to clients and leading direct care teams including Behavioral Health Technician, Level 6 Boys & Girls Supervisor, Campus Supervisor and Milieu Manager.
After his first eight years at KVC, Ed transitioned to a career working with adults with intellectual developmental disabilities as a QDDP and a PBIS Instructor for the state of Missouri. After serving in that role for 8 years he decided to re-join the KVC family because of his passion for KVC’s mission and service to children and families.
In addition to the experience he has gained in working with youth at KVC, Ed’s Additional experience includes serving as Site Director for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kansas City Missouri, where he was responsible for providing services to at-risk youth in Wyandotte County Public Housing Developments.

Michael Turner, M.Ed. Director of Community-Based Services – Southeast Region, oversees the operation of all Community Based Programming in Southeast Missouri, including Foster Care Case Management, Licensing and Placement, the Women’s Crisis Center, Therapeutic Foster Care and Aftercare, as well as the Child Advocacy Center. He is responsible for ensuring excellent program delivery, program outcomes and measurements are met, and adherence to contractual and legal requirements. Other key responsibilities include team building, staff support and community outreach.
Michael graduated from Urshan College with his bachelor’s of Christian Ministry: Pastoral Studies and earned his bachelor’s of Science: Interdisciplinary Studies from Liberty University before receiving his master’s of Education: Teaching, Learning, and Student Services from Liberty University.
Michael has been in the social work field for 7 years and has served as KVC Missouri’s Program Director of the Child Advocacy Center and the Women’s Crisis Center. As programming in Southeast Missouri grew, he became an Associate Director of Community Based Services in his region and then was promoted to Director of Community Based Services.

Maggie Bell is the Director of Operations for KVC Missouri in Springfield, Missouri. Maggie is a dedicated professional with over 15 years of experience working with children and teenagers in diverse therapeutic settings, including residential and outpatient environments. Her journey in the field began as a residential direct care staff, where she concurrently pursued her formal education and licensing.
In September 2013, Maggie joined KVC, previously known as Great Circle, as a residential group therapist for the Southwest region. Over time, her passion for making a positive impact on the lives of young individuals led her to evolve into the role of a residential cottage therapist. Embracing the opportunity for growth, she later assumed the position of Milieu Services Manager, where she played a pivotal role in creating a therapeutic environment for the individuals under our care.
Maggie holds a master’s degree in counseling from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, earned in 2010. Her academic foundation is complemented by specialized training, as she is Phase 2 trained in The Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics™, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)® practitioner and trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. This comprehensive training equips her with an understanding of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, enhancing her ability to provide effective and compassionate care to the individuals she serves.

Scott Dunn is the Clinical Director for KVC Missouri-Springfield. In his role, he provides clinical leadership for Residential Services dealing with all aspects of the program and providing professional supervision. Scott has been with KVC for 29 years.
He earned his Bachelor’s in Social Work from Missouri State University and his Master’s in Social Work from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Prior to his current role, Scott worked as a residential therapist where he provided clinical supervision for provisionally licensed social workers along with being invested in programs that provide practicum students. He has also taught Social Work classes specializing in the area of children and adolescence.

Michelle Ackermann is the Associate Director of Community Based Services for KVC Missouri’s Southwestern Region. Michelle manages the Ozarks Family Resource Center, an emergency shelter for youth who are in foster care, homeless or during times of family crisis. The shelter provides safe, stable housing for youth for up to 30 days while long-term placement is found or until the family crisis has abated. She also manages the southwest region’s Intensive In-Home Services program, which serves families who are at imminent risk of their children entering foster care due to child abuse or neglect.
Michelle earned her Master’s in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University and her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Missouri State University.
Michelle has worked in mental health and child welfare for more than 20 years. She has experience in multiple settings including, Children’s Division, schools, acute mental health, residential treatment and community-based services. She has experience interacting with systems and processes at all levels of care including, prevention, investigation and foster care. She specializes in working with youth who need behavioral healthcare and helping families access services to stabilize children in the home. Prior to her current position, Michelle was an Ozarks Family Resource Center therapist.

Brett Bailey, the Director of Meramec Adventure Learning Ranch, leads the Therapeutic Adventure and Wilderness arm of KVC. The Ranch serves youth who have found themselves “stuck” and defined by their past. Adventure therapy allows clients to experience the transformative power of creation, and genuine relationships to allow young people to begin to grow, heal, and hope.
Brett served in the infantry as an Army Ranger and participated in multiple deployments prior to entering the child welfare field. He received his bachelor’s in social sciences, secondary education, and missions studies from Evangel University and his master’s in counseling from Liberty University. Brett has been with KVC for 18 years, starting as a youth care worker. Brett was a part of the creation of the Meramec Adventure Learning Ranch.

Briann Daugherty, Director of Residential Treatment Services for St. James. In her role, she provides leadership direction to all staff on campus and ensures that treatment is being delivered to each client in a timely and standardized manner that meets requirements. Briann is an involved community member and upholds relationships with other organizations, neighbors and friends of our organization.
Briann obtained her Master’s in Clinical Counseling from Webster University.
Briann started her career as a Youth Care Specialist with KVC (at the time Boys and Girls Town of Missouri) where she was promoted to Cottage Life Supervisor. She also has experience as a case manager with the Salvation Army, running the benevolence office and disaster services for the Phelps County area. Previous to her current role, Briann supervised community-based services for youth and families in which therapy, psych services, and case management were all involved.

Tina Wheeler, MAT, Ed, Director of Special Education/Principal for KVC Academy St. James, leads a team of educators and paraeducators to bring a positive and encouraging education experience to the students on the KVC Academy St. James campus. his campus serves both residential clients, as well as clients from the surrounding community in our Day Treatment education program. Programs include academic intervention programs, like Number Worlds and Corrective Reading; emotional developmental programs, such as Daily Zones of Regulation; and programs that focus on social and behavioral interaction, such as Positive Behavior Intervention and Support. Students on our campus engage in many activities and programs to reach them where they are at to move them forward, not only academically, but also emotionally, socially, and behaviorally.
Tina started her career in Education in 2005. She has worked with a variety of grade levels and educational needs. She earned her bachelor’s of arts in English and master’s of arts in teaching and educational specialist in leadership from Webster University.

Dawn earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from the College of the Ozarks.
Dawn has 23 years of experience in the child welfare field. Prior to her current role, Dawn served as a Licensing and Placement Specialist, Licensing and Placement Supervisor and Associate Director of FCCM (Foster Care Case Management), TFC (Treatment Foster Care) and Licensing at KVC. Dawn also has experience working at Children’s Division as an Investigator, Alternative Care, Family Centered Services, Licensing, Adoption Subsidy, and Supervisor over Alternative Care, Licensing and Adoption Subsidy.

Arti Dautenhahn is an Associate Director for KVC’s South-central Community Based Programs overseeing Intensive In-Home Services, Intensive Family Reunification Services, and Home Visitation. In his role, he oversees the daily functioning of these programs and provides direct supervision to the leadership team. Arti engages in strategic planning and ensures that quality, effective delivery of services is occurring.
Arti earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from The University of Missouri at Rolla and his master’s in counseling from Webster University. Arti became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2014. Arti has been working within the child welfare world for 20 years and has been part of almost every aspect of the system from preventative services to residential services to investigation of child abuse and neglect.
Arti previously worked for Piney Ridge, Compass Health, and the Missouri Children’s Division. Arti started working with Great Circle (now KVC) in 2012 as a front-line Intensive In-Home Services Specialist. Since that time he promoted to Intensive In-Home Services Supervisor, Intensive In-Home Services Coordinator, and now Associate Director. Arti is also the Chapter President of Sleep In Heavenly Peace MO-Rolla, a non-profit organization that provides beds and bedding for children.

With 14 years of experience in the field, she has worked as a Special Education Teacher for over 10 years, engaging with students of all age groups from elementary to high school. Additionally, she served as a Process Coordinator for 2.5 years, collaborating closely with professionals from various school districts.

Tamara Moore is the Regional Director of Child Placing for KVC Missouri. In her role, she oversees Child Placing for Treatment Foster Care and Licensing programs in Central, South Central, East and Southeast Missouri. She ensures that all program needs and responsibilities are met and helps with outreach to ensure program growth. Tamara has been with KVC Missouri for seven years.
Tamara earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Child and Family Studies from Northwest Missouri State University and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Missouri Baptist University.
Tamara has experience as an Associate Director of Child Placing, Treatment Foster Care caseworker, Foster Care Case Management Supervisor, and a Behavior Assistant working with high-needs youth on the Autism Spectrum.

Kaysi Rinks is the Director of Special Education for KVC Academy Edgewood. Kaysi oversees the educational program provided at KVC Academy Edgewood (located in Webster Groves, MO). The program focuses on students who have social-emotional challenges, as well as students with Autism.
Kaysi earned her Master’s in Administration from Southwest Baptist University.
She has 11 years of experience teaching at the elementary and middle school levels and has been working in educational administration for five years. Kaysi is certified in the Nuerosequential Model in Education, based on the works of Dr. Bruce Perry.

Antoinette Liggins, MSW
Antoinette Liggins, MSW
Antoinette Liggins, MSW is an Associate Director of Community-Based Services in St. Louis for KVC Missouri. In her role, she provides supervision and management to a team of social workers/ case managers, and students working with children and families in the Foster Care System. Antoinette has been with KVC for seven years.
Antoinette earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of North Florida and her Master’s in Social Work from Florida State University.
She has more than ten years of experience working with youth, the community, and the child welfare system. Prior to taking on the role of associate director, she worked as a foster care case manager, lead foster care case manager, foster care supervisor and CA/N investigator.
Her experience also includes work with LGBTQA+ youth providing HIV testing, counseling, and medical case management. She also managed a youth clinic that provided testing and treatment for youth infected with HIV and/or STI/STD. She facilitated a youth support group for unhoused and HIV-positive youth as well as provided substance abuse case management and counseling to youth ages 18-26 who also engage in survival sex work. Antoinette managed a housing program for unhoused minority women directly affected by HIV by providing stable housing and mental health case management services.
Prior to her time in child welfare, Antoinette served for ten years in the Navy, where she volunteered as a mentor to youth and as a sexual assault victim intervention (SAVI) advocate.

I started out as an engineering major switching between chemical and electrical engineering until I took a sociology class where they talked about social work and it changed my life. Devine intervention lead me to the field but my faith keeps me here. Robbie Pacanowski is the Associate Director of Education – Clinical for KVC Missouri. Robbie oversees all clinical services provided in our Education. He has been with KVC Missouri for seven years.
Robbie holds a Master’s in Counseling from Truman State University, where he also earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
Robbie has a wealth of experience in mental health, including serving as a Case Manager/Counselor for an adult substance abuse residential and day treatment program, a Counselor for an adolescent outpatient substance abuse day treatment program, and a Therapist for a day treatment school program.

Aquila Rives, MA, LPC
Aquila Rives, MA, LPC is the Associate Director of Community Based Services for KVC Missouri’s Eastern Region. In her role, she provides supervision, guidance and monitoring of assigned programs and supervisory teams to ensure all contractual requirements and outcomes are met. Aquila collaborates with the Process and Quality Improvement department on implementation of the peer review process whereby all files are being reviewed for accuracy and contract compliance. She is responsible for all case management units meeting the stated contractual outcomes related to child welfare practice. Aquila has 22 years of experience in child welfare field.
She earned her Master of Arts in Counseling from Missouri Baptist University. Aquila’s previous experience includes IIS-IFRS Supervisor, IIS-IFRS Specialist and Special Education Teacher for SLPS.
