BRING YOUR TEEN WITH YOU!

This is a hands on learning that both you and your teenager will benefit from – if you bring them!

Join us for a comprehensive training designed to equip foster parents with practical tools for nurturing teens’ life skills development. Ready, Set, Fly! A Parent’s Guide to Teaching Life Skills is an innovative resource born from collaborative discussions involving foster and adoptive parents, teenagers, and young adults at the Tucson Division of Casey Family Programs. This training serves as a companion tool to the Life Skills Guidebook (accessible at www.caseylifeskills.org) and features activities tailored for one-on-one interactions, aiming to empower caregivers in guiding youth toward successful independent living.

Crafted with foster parents in mind, this training offers insightful activities suitable for all parents involved in teaching life skills to children and adolescents. The content aligns with the Ansell-Casey Life Skills Assessment (ACLSA) developmental levels, catering to ages 8-10, 11-14, 15-18, and 19 and older, ensuring age-appropriate and targeted skill-building experiences.

Activities and Developmental Approach Delve into six key life skill domains, covering daily living skills, housing, transportation, money management, self-care, social development, and work and study skills. These activities, stemming from collaborative discussions among parents, offer a spectrum of simplicity, catering to various age groups from elementary to post-high school levels.

Join us for a transformative training experience designed to empower foster parents in guiding teens toward self-sufficiency through practical skill-building activities.  You are encouraged (although not required) to bring your teen.

Tobey Wilkerson, Foster Parent Training Specialist, will send a confirmation prior to class, with directions to the office.

This is an in person class. It is scheduled at the Springfield Office, located at 1524 E Primrose, Suite C, Springfield, MO.
