What’s It Like Working at KVC?

At KVC, we are dedicated to our long legacy of compassionately serving children, families and the team members who make it happen. What’s it really like working here? Take a look at what our employees have to say.

Feeling Heard — and Helping Others

“KVC is such a great place to work. I feel heard when I have anything I need to bring to my boss. You can tell this company truly appreciates their employees. Your paid time off grows the longer you have been there, and is not capped at two weeks. They have tuition reimbursement, great healthcare choices and yearly raises. That is just a small bit of what KVC does for their employees. On top of all that you get to go to sleep at night knowing you helped better a child’s life! Big or small, all the positions are so meaningful and you really feel like you are helping your community.” – KVC Missouri employee

Meaningful Work with a Supportive Team

“I know that my work is meaningful and I am helping children and families in need. The job is incredibly flexible, so I can easily get my work done and manage my home life. My team and supervisor are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the job. My coworkers truly care about their work and go out of their way to care for others.” – KVC Missouri employee

“KVC supports you at work. The team is supportive of you and will give you feedback, so you know when you’re being successful at your job, not just when you have made an error.” – KVC Missouri employee

Making a Measurable Impact

Of course, working at KVC means making a difference in the world. Every day, our team members spark positive change and impact the lives of children and their families. What does this change look like? Check out how the KVC Missouri team of social work and mental health professionals made a difference in 2022:

  • More safe homes for children in foster care were created with 120 new foster/adoptive families in the state licensure process.
  • Young people found the help they needed as 149 youth admissions were served at KVC’s mental health residential treatment facility.
  • Foster parents gained game-changing knowledge with 451 hours of training.
  • Students grew and learned at our alternative K-12 school with 5,681 days of instruction.
  • Children returned to their families with 88% of those in residential treatment gaining successful discharge into family-like settings or lower levels of care.
  • Youth in residential treatment experienced 50% shorter stays as they achieved mental wellness with supportive strategies.

How Is KVC a Supportive Work Environment?

At KVC Missouri, we know that our people are everything. Supporting children and families in some of their most challenging moments can be challenging itself. That’s why we’ve worked so hard to build a supportive work environment for those doing this life-changing work. We often promote from within to help professionals grow in their social work or mental health careers and provide leadership opportunities.

How exactly do we create this uplifting and compassionate environment for the people who work on our team? We have a clear focus on the kind of culture we want to have in our organization. That culture centers around appreciation, belonging, learning, purpose, support, trust and work happiness. With these areas in mind, we’ve built a workplace in which mental health professionals can empower each other and take care of their own wellbeing after taking care of others.
