Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)/Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
KVC’s Intensive Outpatient Program/Partial Hospitalization Program based in Springfield provides treatment for youth (ages 8 – 17) who are experiencing behavioral, relational and mental health challenges. This program provides intensive, focused short-term clinical services to youth, helping families stay together safely and preventing out-of-home care without an overnight stay. The goal of this program is to help youth manage their mental health, enhance relational and coping skills, shorten or prevent hospital stays and foster empowerment and engagement. This is achieved through group therapy, individual and family sessions, psychoeducation and medication management.
Program Overview
KVC’s Intensive Outpatient Program/Partial Hospitalization Program is a structured group therapy program that will provide services and support to youth who exhibit psychiatric symptoms and significant impairment in day-to day educational, social and interpersonal functioning. This unique program offers a much-needed intermediate level of care, serving as a bridge between residential care and a traditional office outpatient setting.
IOP participants will attend three hours per day for a total of nine hours per week. The schedule is Monday – Thursday, 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
PHP participants will attend five hours per day for a total of 20 hours per week. The schedule is Monday – Thursday, 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
While less intensive than being admitted into psychiatric hospitalization or residential treatment, IOP/PHP helps youth struggling with dysregulation and disruptive behaviors, who need an elevated and more direct hands-on approach towards intensive intervention than outpatient therapy can provide them.
IOP/PHP is an effective alternative program for parents, youth, school counselors and other providers because of its ability to supply a wide array of specialized services in a relatively short period of time.
IOP/PHP exists to offer the critical support youth and families need in order for youth to remain in, or successfully transition back into the community.
Client groups are designed to meet individualized needs. Each group incorporates a variety of curricular goals, including practicing healthy communication, helping develop coping skills, distress tolerance, and therapeutic games.
